Lee District Park Offers Fourth of July Concert

You will not find fireworks at Lee District Park this year, but you will find excellent entertainment in the afternoon on Independence Day. The Fairfax County Park Authority in partnership with the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and generous community sponsors are pleased to present The M&R Project, followed by the Annandale Brass Ensemble Summer Pops in concert from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009.

The community is invited to enjoy this free event featuring two great performances! Start the fun at 3 p.m. with the M&R Project as they cover the music made famous by the Drifters, the Clovers, the Flamingoes, and many others. It’s music that will get you on your feet and keep you moving. These performers are well known for their authenticity, strong instrumentation, and soulful vocals.

At 4 p.m., enjoy the sounds of the Annandale Brass Ensemble under the direction of Conductor Christopher Johnston. Johnston skillfully guides the orchestra and through his musicality and vision, audiences are able to take pleasure in a breathtaking concert.

These concerts take place outdoors. Bring a picnic dinner, blankets, and lawn chairs. If there is a threat of bad weather, call (703) 324-SHOW after 6 p.m. for cancellation updates. For information about the Park Authority’s summer performance series visit us online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/performances.

Lee District Park is located at 6601 Telegraph Road in Franconia. VA. For more information, contact the Park Authority at (703) 324-8702.
