Summer Concerts in the Parks are Heating Up  
 
The weather is heating up and so is the Fairfax County Park Authority’s Summer Entertainment series. The lineup for Wednesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 17 will be particularly hot with performances featuring rock ‘n roll, funky jazz and South African jive. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. and last one hour. Grab a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy some free music outdoors!

Catch Ruthie & the Wranglers’ award-winning brand of rockin’ American roots music at Lee District Park located at 6601 Telegraph Road in Franconia. The band has become famous for its rousing surf instrumentals, clever lyrics, high-energy and hillbilly harmonies.

Modern Groove Syndicate, a funky quintet out of Richmond, VA, will stir souls and spin heads with their unique sound at Mason District Park located at 6621 Columbia Pike in Annandale. Their genre defying music is a veritable gumbo of funk, jazz, Latin, hip-hop and more.

Dance, jive and kick some dust to the South African township music of MAHALA at Frying Pan Farm Park located at 2709 West Ox Road in Herndon.

Beatles tribute band The Glass Onion performs well-known favorites of the Fab Four at Nottoway Park located at 9537 Courthouse Road in Vienna.

The summer entertainment series is presented by the Fairfax County Park Authority in partnership with the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and generous contributions from local businesses. For last minute cancellations due to inclement weather, call 703-324-SHOW (7469).
