Boulder-based rock quartet Rose Hill Drive is gearing up for four headlining shows, in addition to a run of seven dates supporting alternative rock legends Stone Temple Pilots. The much-beloved band was on an indefinite hiatus for all of 2009, except for one gig opening for Jane’s Addiction on New Year’s Eve in Aspen, which left fans and critics alike wondering. The rumors have now all been definitively put to rest. Rose Hill Drive officially came out of hibernation in June of 2010 to debut a new member, bass player Jimmy Stofer, and showcase brand-new new material.
In 2003, Daniel Sproul, his brother Jacob and childhood friend Nate Barnes began practicing in the basement of the house on Rose Hill Drive in Boulder that the Sproul brothers grew up in. Since then, they’ve released two albums, several EPs, and developed a worldwide fan base.
During the band’s recent self-imposed hiatus, Jacob switched from bass to guitar, bassist Stofer came on board, and the band began writing new material. Stofer was previously a member of Colorado favorites Hello Kavita and Dualistics, and a touring member of The Fray.
Rose Hill Drive’s raw, emotive rock has earned the group high praises from both critics and fellow musicians alike. The band has previously opened for Wilco, The Black Crowes, Queens Of The Stone Age, Van Halen, Aerosmith and The Who, among others.
