DysengaugeD: Here to Rock, So Listen Up Now

They have the ability to own your face with their intensive brand of rock. They have a very, very dedicated following (trust me I know). They are talented musicians. They spell their band name as if it was 2001 and they in the height of the nu-metal explosion.

OK, looking beyond that last sediment, they are DysengaugeD.

As a band, DysengaugeD knows what they are doing, and their music showcases that fact. I am such a big mark for rock music as everyone should know, and as such, I am a mark for this band. They have a solid take on the post-grunge era of alternative music, complete with crunchy distortion and brooding textures, topped off with a slight southern rock twist. To sum it up a little bit easier, think a little bit of Crossfade o Shinedown mixed in with some latter day Staind. To me, that isn’t that bad of a combination, now is it?

Enough of who they sound like, and onto how they sound. Today’s music is almost reviewed like the mid-80’s Sunset Strip metal in the fact that if a band can play soft and melodic as well as they can play fast and aggressive, they are good. DysengaugeD lands in that category. Quiet Discomfort is a clear platform of not only their ability to craft a quality ballad, but also the vocal range of frontman Tanner Nall and fretboard talents of both Nall and DysengaugeD’s other chord plucking maestro Patrick Broder. Falling Forward is a forage into this bands heavier side, and the combination of Nall’s encompassing voice and Broder’s excellent progressions make a good team. If you’re looking for a solid hook to get into, look no further than Black and White, which by the way also has a kick ass guitar solo and is also my favorite song from these guys.

If you’re looking for emo, you’ve come to the wrong place, and if you’re looking for your run of the mill rock music, you’ve also come to the wrong place. DysengaugeD will stand for none of that, and they sure as hell let their music do the talking. And if you want to argue with their music, guess what, it’s smarter and uses bigger words than you, so don’t bother.
