Houston.

The Rolling Stones signed a deal with Virgin Records worth 45-million-dollars, which at the time was the most lucrative contract offered by a record company.

A street in Augusta, Georgia was dedicated "James Brown Boulevard."
In 1994
David Crosby received his much needed liver transplant at UCLA Medical Center.

Charlie Daniels underwent surgery for prostate cancer.

In 2003
Michael Jackson traveled from Las Vegas to California to surrender to authorities in response to an arrest warrant on child molestation charges. He was photographed and fingerprinted, he turned in his passport, and he posted a three-million-dollar bond.
Phil Spector was formally charged with murder in the death of actress Lana Clarkson. During his arraignment he pled not guilty to the charge.
The late George Harrison, ZZ Top, Silver Bullet Band frontman Bob Seger, singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, and Traffic were among the inductees announced for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2004.
In 2005
The Cars announced its plans for a reunion, calling the group The New Cars and tapping Todd Rundgren to be the band's frontman.
In 2007
Former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artemus Pyle was released from a Florida jail on ten-thousand-dollars bail. He had spent the night at the facility because state records indicated he hadn't adequately registered as a sex offender. He denied the allegations, claiming the police, quote, "got it wrong." Pyle's sex offender status stemmed from a guilty plea in 1993 to charges relating to sexual misconduct with a minor.
Diana Ross' father, Fred Ross, died at his home in Detroit. He was 87.
James Brown estate trustees Buddy Dallas and Alford Bradley resigned amid allegations of mismanagement. A third trustee had stepped down a few months earlier, and was facing jail time because he couldn't account for at least seven-million-dollars that was missing from the estate.< |
