Elton John Adds To AIDS Awareness Music Magazine
Elton John is among helping to promote AIDS awareness. Billboard.com says the classic rocker is lending his support to the new digital music magazine RED(WIRE). The magazine is a branch of the activist organization (RED), led by U2 frontman Bono. Elton is featured in the debut issue, which hits the web Monday -- World AIDS Day. He teamed up with The Killers and the Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant to contribute the special Christmas song "Joseph, Better You Than Me" to the project. Other participating artists include U2, Coldplay, the Dixie Chicks, John Legend, and R.E.M.
All proceeds from the five-dollar subscription will go toward helping HIV-infected people in Africa. Every Wednesday, users will receive a new issue of RED(WIRE) that includes an exclusive song from a major artist, a song from another artist being showcased, a featured video or photograph, and a glimpse into how the money is directly benefiting people in Africa. |
