Brenda Lee, Bobby Helm Songs Among Most Popular Christmas Tunes
If this year is similar to last year, you'll likely be hearing a lot of Brenda Lee and Bobby Helms in the coming weeks even if you aren't listening to a rock or pop station. According to data tabulated by Mediabase, Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" was the second-most played holiday song of 2007 on country radio, topped only by Vince Vance and The Valiants' "All I Want For Christmas Is You." Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock" was number four, behind Jeff Foxworthy's "Redneck 12 Days of Christmas." Burl Ives' "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" also makes the list at number six. The three crossover stars join a list that includes songs of the season from Clint Black, Alabama, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, and Alan Jackson. |
