30 Seconds Trumps 30 Million
30 Seconds To Mars does not have the lawsuit blues. The band is forging ahead into their next album despite being embroiled in a 30-million-dollar lawsuit with their record label. Earlier this year, Virgin sued the group for failure to deliver the full amount of albums specified under their deal initially signed with Immortal Records. Singer Jared Leto tells MTV.com it's the group's first suit, and notes, quote, "When you have a 30-million-dollar lawsuit against you, it's part of your life. Some days you feel invincible, and other days you can be obsessed with it." Leto says they had a phenomenal relationship with their record company, but are being sued for terminating the deal and exercising their legal right. The vocalist explains that the group has honored the contract for nine years and under California law, no contract should exceed seven years. Leto adds that he feels confident in challenging the filing, and he's putting most of his energy into the band's next album. |
