Vintage Country Songs Enter Grammy Hall Of Fame
Some vintage country songs are being included in the Grammy Hall of Fame. The Recording Academy has named 28 new entries for its archives. The country tunes that have made the cut this time around include Roy Rogers and Dale Evans' 1952 classic "Happy Trails," the 1940 Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys single "Mule Skinner Blues," and Roy Acuff and the Crazy Tennesseans' 1936 single "Great Speckled Bird." They join a variety of rock, pop, jazz, and R&B recordings, while classical, Calypso, Latin, and film and Broadway musical soundtracks are also part of the growing collection that now boasts 826 titles. The new Grammy Hall of Fame recordings will be recognized during this Wednesday's CBS special "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!" with B.B. King and John Mayer teaming up for a collaborative performance of the honored song "Let The Good Times Roll." In addition, all the Grammy Hall of Fame material will be featured at the new Grammy Museum at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, which will open Saturday.
