Coldplay Approach 2009 As Their Last Year
Coldplay is coming to a close -- sort of. It turns out that talks of winding down the band may be more like pal Jay-Z's "retirement" than an actual finale. Singer Chris Martin says the group is approaching 2009 as if the year is their final one together more as a way to keep them focused. He calls it "the only way to proceed," telling RollingStone.com, quote, "You've got to have deadlines, you know. What that means is we're going to pour everything we can into next year and not think beyond that. We always say that and we always mean it. But every time we say it, someone writes that it's over." Martin says he doesn't think the band will ever split up, but feels they have a lot to do before he turns 33.
