Micky Dolenz, George Clinton's "Gone Country" Journey Has Air Date
Former Monkee Micky Dolenz and Funkadelic's George Clinton will begin their televised attempt at launching a country music career in just a couple months. They're part of the cast of the third season of CMT's "Gone Country," which is scheduled to begin with an hour-long special on January 24th. On the show, celebrities famous for something other than country music learn what it takes to make it in Music City. The six-week series will wrap up with an hour-long finale on March 7th, which will feature the contenders performing before a Nashville audience, singing country songs they wrote. John Rich, of the country duo Big & Rich, serves as the host and coach for the hopefuls. He also decides the winner and will work with that person in the studio to record their song, which will then get shipped to country radio stations.
Julio Iglesias Jr. was the first "Gone Country" winner, while rocker Sebastian Bach took home the season-two crown. Others on CMT's "Gone Country 3" include Sheila E., Miss USA Tara Conner, pop singer Taylor Dayne, actor Richard Grieco, and former "American Idol" runner-up Justin Guarini. |
