Howard Stern Confirms "American Idol" Rumors
Howard Stern is confirming reports suggesting he may be in the running to take Simon Cowell's seat on Fox's "American Idol." On his satellite show Monday, Stern told listeners, quote, "It might be possible, we'll see." The "shock jock" is in the final year of his 500-million-dollar contract with Sirius XM, which is set to expire in January of 2011. He says he'll do "Idol" if the price is right. Stern says, quote, "A hundred-million [dollar paycheck] to judge a karaoke contest? Yeah, I think I would do that show for 100-million...What a cush job: 100-million for four months. Who wouldn't take that?"
The outspoken talk-show host also says he's ready to fill the seat of the show's toughest judge. In fact, he thinks he's the best choice to replace Cowell. Stern says, quote, "How else are they going to make that show work? Who knows how to broadcast and who knows how to be interesting? And who's not afraid to speak their mind?" |
